Electron diffraction study of the structure of NbOCl3 molecule

Description
A simultaneous X-ray diffraction and mass spectrometric study of niobium oxytrichloride molecule is performed. Conditions are determined which ensure the presence of the only molecular species, NbOCl3, in vapour phase. Structural parameters of the molecule corresponding to the C3V configuration are as follows: r?Nb=O)=1.682(6)A; r(Nb-Cl)=2.276(5)A; (O-Nb-Cl) angle = 107.5 (0.5)0. 9 refs., 2 figs., 4 tabs
