Measurement of CP-violation with the GEM detector

  • 1. California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, CA (United States)

Description

In this note, the feasibility of measuring CP-violation in the B-meson system with the GEM detector at SSC is described, using the decay mode Bd → J/ψ + K0S → μ+μ-π+π- for the β angle measurement. In Section 2, the signature of the signal is discussed. Section 3 is devoted to a description of the GEM performance, including the estimation of the backgrounds. The rate of the signal is discussed in Section 4, and the summary is given in Section 5
