Falling oil prices: the paradoxical signal of the world's finitude

Description

A new world oil order has imposed itself in a very short time, taking all economic players by surprise. With prices collapsing by 75% since June 2014, to fall below $30 a barrel, oil hasn't been this cheap for ten years. This fall may have short-term negative consequences in the fight against global warming, in particular by reducing incentives for the development of energy efficiency and renewable energies. But what interests us above all here are the deeper causes of this fall, which is as spectacular as it is unexpected, and which we consider as a paradoxical signal of the world's finitude
