The development and application of a modified analytical procedure for laboratory dispersant testing

Description
The analytical procedures for measuring dispersant effectiveness in the laboratory were examined. Previous studies reported on the development of a gas chromatographic method for measuring dispersant effectiveness with far greater accuracy than the old colorimetric methods. This study described a new chromatographic method which has improved the data quality and time required for analysis. Notable features of the new method include: (1) the correction for very low oil-in-water values, and (2) the use of few calibration points directly around the expected or actual value. The increased accuracy of the new method is most evident with low values of dispersant. 7 refs., 1 tab
