Description

Gamma-gamma angular correlation measurements in 56Fe have been done extensively using Ge(Li) (64.1 cc)-NaI(Tl) (3inches x 3inches) fast coincidence set-up having a time resolution of 8 nsec which is achieved by using constant fraction discriminators and time to pulse height convertor. Investigations on 20 cascades have been made by gating 846 and 1238 keV gamma ray peaks on NaI(Tl) detector and taking the rest of the coincidence spectrum on a 4096 channel analyser. The results show a general consistency with some of the earlier measurements but there is a disagreement in the results obtained in some of the cascades. These findings are discussed. It has been possible to assign 3+, 4+ and 3+ to 4049, 4100 and 4120 keV levels respectively from the present angular correlation measurements. The mixing ratios delta(E2/M1) for various transitions measured in the present study are given. (auth.)
