Elastic and inelastic scattering of 50 MeV alpha particles from 209Bi
- 1. Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Bombay (India). Nuclear Physics Div.
Description
The differential cross sections for the elastic and inelastic scattering from 209Bi were measured for 50 MeV alpha particles in the angular range 9deg to 82deg covered in 2.5deg steps using two Si(Li) detectors 2mm and 3mm thick mounted 10deg apart on one arm of the 90cm diameter scattering chamber. The overall resolution was 200 keV. The elastic cross sections were compared with optical model calculations. The inelastic scattering cross sections were normalised to DWBA calculations using optical model yielding βRI=0.78 ± 0.12 and B(E ↑) = 0.62 ± 0.10 e2b3. (M.G.B.)
