Description
Relations between hemoglobin level and survival and/or recurrence rate were studied in a radiation-treated group of post-menopausal women suffering from cervix carcinoma. Data obtained from the investigation suggest that anemia unfavourably alters radiotherapy effectiveness. The possible cause of lowered control rate may be tissue oxygenation deficiency resulting from reduced oxygen carriage which increases the proportion of hypoxic cells and impairs radiosensitivity.
