Some features of radiolysis of polymers on solid surface studied for polymethyl metacrylate and polymethyl acrylate on aerosil

Description
Peculiarities of γ-radiolysis (dose rate 0.35 Gy/s, absorbed dose 0.2-50 kGy, 20 deg C) of polymers on the surface of silicon dioxide particles are studied, using as an example destructing (polymethyl metacrylate) (PMMA) and mainly cross-link (polymethyl acrylate) (PMA) polymers. It is established, that considerable sensibilization of PMMA radiation destruction and inhibition of PMA gel formation process during irradiation on the surface of silicon dioxide take place. Dependence of the yield of PMMA main chain breaks on polymer synthesis conditions and its concentration on the surface is studied
