Description

Radiation Processing Technology developed in the early 60s, is undoubtedly an effective and efficient process for sterilisation of healthcare and allied products, bio burden reduction of spices, condiments, cosmetic and raw materials. It is also used for sanitary and phyto-sanitary treatment, shelf life extension of various agro and horticultural produce and property modification of polymers, unlike other popular decontamination / bio-burden reduction processes, this process has been subjected to stringent and rigorous tests, scrutiny and analysis for the last 6 decades; it has been approved as a well understood, commercially viable process which also has global Regulatory acceptance. Radiation processing commenced in India in the early 70s, graduated from laboratory curiosity to a full-fledged commercial activity today. The Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India, has been successful in demonstrating the societal benefits of this technology
