Theoretical study of crystallization of pseudo-binary alloys
Creators
Description
The TiC-Ni system was taken as an example to investigate in a simplified version crystallization processes in hypereutectic alloys. The paper aimed to describe theoretically hard alloy crystallization and to determine factors which control material texture. Kinetic and thermodynamic parameters were estimated for their effects on crystallization of alloys of metallic matrix-refractory phase type. Conditions for various distribution of refractory phase in matrix resulting in certain texture formation were considered. The approach developed is rather simple and can be applied for analysis of secondary phase distribution under crystallization of substantial amounts of substance in a plane layer with identical heat removal conditions
