Techniques of cell labeling: an overview

  • 1. Thomas Jefferson Univ., Philadelphia, PA

Description

The author evaluates techniques for labeling blood cells with radioactive substances, presenting the limitations, advantages, and relative effectiveness of each, from the early beta emitting cohort labels such as H-3-thymidine (1), C-14 formic acid, and P-32-di-isopropylfluorophosphate on to the development of gamma emitters such as I-131-sodium iodide, Cr-51-Na chromate, and Tc99m-Na pertechnetate. His main emphasis here, though, is on In111 as a tracer for platelets, leukocytes, and lymphocytes
