Description

B2O3-SiO2-Na2O-K2O-Dy2O3 glasses were prepared and study for their spectroscopic and physical properties in detail. The density of present BSNK glasses increases with an increase in Dy-ions concentration. Moreover, Dy-ion concentration (N) and field Strength also show an increasing trend. Absorption spectra exhibit eight characteristic peaks in Vis and NIR region. The trend in JO parameters is Ω2 > Ω6 > Ω4 for the BSNKDy1.5 glass sample with a higher value of Ω2. Six transitions are observed in the excitation spectra (300-500 range and λem=573 nm) of the BSNKDy samples. Emission cross section (σpp)) for 4F9/26H13/2 transition has the highest value among other transition of NSNKD1.5 glass. The quantum efficiency for BSNKDY1.5 glass is 55%. The CIE coordinates and CCT-value for BSNKDy glasses are (0.37, 0.41) and 4461 K, respectively. Hence, these are suitable for high-gain, continuous low-threshold laser action and W-LEDs. (author)
