UO22+ luminescence quenching by triatomic molecules of SO2, ClO2, O3 in acid solutions
Description
UO22+ fluorescence quenching in acid solutions of sulfuric and perchloric acids by the molecules SO2, ClO2, O3 is studied. It is shown that the quenching is not determined by the redox properties of the molecules above, as a result, the deactivation mechanism by means of electron transfer according to the equation: MO2+UO22+→UO2++MO2+ is found to be rather improbable. At the same time, photochemical reactions during the interaction of UO22+ excited in its absorption band (lambda=436 nm) both with SO2 and O3 are found. A mechanism of quenching by means of oxygen atom transfer and oxygen exchange between UO22+ and the quenching agent molecule is suggested
