Development of IPM for J-PARC MR

Description

In addition to the Vertical type residual gas Ionization Profile Monitor (V-IPM), we have developed a horizontal type IPM (H-IPM) for the Main Ring synchrotron (MR) of J-PARC. For the H-IPM, some improvements were made to suppress a flash over discharge by which the present operation voltage of the V-IPM is limited under 40 kV. By degreasing the triple junction electric field and by making the slit on the ceramic bushing, the operation voltage was improved to that of over 50 kV. In this paper, the details of the H-IPM are reported. (author)
