Description

Following a brief comparison with tokamak, the properties of the RFP and the reasons to study this alternative line of magnetic confinement are discussed. In the remainder of the paper a short summary of the main results on RFP's is given. In particular results on the configuration sustainment and on the scaling of temperature, energy confinement time and field fluctuations with current are discussed
