Spin alignment and polarization in (16O, 15N) reactions

Description

The spin alignment for the 15N(6.33 MeV, 3/2-) state was measured using the method of γ-recoil in flight for the reactions 27Al(16O, 15N)28Si and 88Sr(16O, 15N)8 Y at E(L)=96 MeV. The results are compared with reaction model calculations. It is shown that strong alignment is obtained due to coherent contributions of several angular momentum transfers. Differences in cross sections for transitions to different configurations (j=l+1/2 or j=l-1/2) are shown to be sensitive to polarization effects of the outgoing 15N(1/2-). The strength of the spin orbit interaction for 15N(1/2-) is deduced

Abstract (Afrikaans)

Die spinlynrigting vir die 15N(6.33 MeV, 3/2-)-toestand is gemeet deur die metode van γ-terugslag in vlug vir die reaksies 27Al(16O, 15N)28Si en 88Sr(16O, 15N)8 Y by E(L)=96 MeV te gebruik. Die resultate word met die berekenings van die reaksiemodelle vergelyk. Daar is getoon dat sterk lynrigting verkry is weens die koherente bydraes van etlike draaimomentum-oordragte. Daar word getoon dat verskille in deursnee vir oorgange tot verskillende konfigurasies (j=l+1/2 of j=l-1/2) sensitief is vir polarisasie-effekte van die uitgaande 15N(1/2-). Die sterkte van die spinbaanwisselwerking vir 15N(1/2-) word afgelei
