MHD relaxation phenomena around q = 2 surface in tokamak plasma
Description
A one dimensional cylindrical transport model is proposed to describe the ohmically heated tokamak plasma in which the coupled interaction of the impurity and the magnetic island evolution is included. It is found that for some set of parameters, the m/n = 2/1 island width and the corresponding electron temperature around q = 2 surface might present relaxation oscillations. The physical processes responsible for these phenomena and their implication to the tokamak confinement are discussed
