Description

After having noticed that the logic of price formation is different on the North-American, European and Asian markets, evoked the share of natural in the world primary assessment, indicated the main countries in terms of reserves of conventional and non conventional gases, and the main consumer countries, the author outlines that the EU structurally remains dependent on foreign countries for its natural gas supply (with the big issue of Russia's liability as provider). He discusses the possibility of a Russian strategy based on a concept of boundary price (reference to the theory of predatory pricing, discussion of factors which may weaken Russia's position). He finally discusses possible measures to strengthen the security of gas supplies for the EU
