Description

This report describes some aspects of the US Department of Energy (DOE) decommissioning activities encountered in cleanup of radioactive and chemical contamination. This discussion presents the decommissioning program within the DOE Environmental Restoration and Waste Management organizational structure. The presentation outlines technology developments supporting selected decontamination and decommissioning (D ampersand D) projects and their relationships to environmental compliance efforts. The paper concludes with identification of uncertainties that may potentially impact DOE program planning and execution
