Description

The purpose of this work is to emphasize and to analyse the factors which produce or contribute to the occurrence of tritium/tritiated water, in the energetic nuclear reactors. In the first part of the paper we present the nuclear power plants based on different kind of nuclear reactors and their basic characteristics, the 235 U fission reaction scheme and the specific functioning of CANDU reactors. In the second part we present the process of tritium generation in nuclear reactors using deuterium oxide as moderator as well as other factors of tritium's generation in moderator and coolant in nuclear power reactors.
