Device for ionizing radiation detection

Description

A device for detecting ionizing radiation is described. The device consists of a scintillation counter with an inorganic NaI(Tl) crystal and connected in series pulse linear shaper-integrator and or low level discriminator. With the purpose of increasing maximum loading without decreasing the stability of the radiation detecting threshold a narrow pulse linear shaper linear transmitter, upper level discriminator and an adder are additionally introduced into the device. The device tests at loading of more than 10 pulse/s with 137Cs radiation-source in the temperature range from -60 to +60 deg C have shown that counting rate instability at the device outlet does not exceed 3%. The device application in a wide temperature range provides the possibility to substantially raise the fast-response of transducers used for detecting gamma-and beta-radiations. The devic can be used in radioisotope and radiometric devices operating in a counting mode
