Work conditions and morbidity of medical professionals concerning with sources of ionizing irradiation for intracavitary irradiation of patients

Description

Aim of inquiry: studying the problems of radiation security for intracervical irradiation of oncology patients was carried out aimed at scientific substantiation of measurements on optimizing work conditions of medical staff and reducing dosage loading for using of sources of ionizing irradiation for intracavitary irradiation of oncology patients. Methods of inquire: hygienic, radiation-hygienic, statistic. The results of achieved and their novelty: it was established that taking into consideration a higher nervous psychic tension, taking into account an effect of irradiation sources - to the second degree of the third class. An irradiation dose of medical staff for production of sources equals 1/8-1/12 maximum permissible dose (MPD). Capacity of a dose for manual administration of sources on the working sites achieves 58± 0,25 mk Sv/h, for apparatus administration - 1,3± 0,25 mk Sv/h; an irradiation dose reaches 8 - 74% from MPD of staff: An increase in MPD was found to be in 6,7-8% of cases. A morbidity level with a temporary disability of staff equals 20,5±1,8 - 22,0±1,5 humans by 100 working professionals; attention was paid to a considerable position of benign neoplasm's - 11 times higher than in medical staff not contacting with ionizing irradiation sources. Hormesist effect of accumulated irradiation doses less than 50 mk Sv/h was noted manifesting in stimulation of leukopoiesis and thrombocytopoiesis and increasing in a level of specific prosthetic antigen. Practical value: results of studies are used to prepare 16 scientific publications, 5 practical elaboration's and 1 SanNorR. (author)
