Complexes of organiarsonic acids with metal ions : Part III - complexes of U (IV) with phenylarsonic acid and its ortho- and para-substituted derivaties

  • 1. Guru Nanak Univ., Amritsar (India). Dept. of Chemistry

Description

Phenylarsonic, p-tolylarsonic, p-methoxyphenylarsonic, p-chlorophenylarsonic and p-bromophenylarsonic acids (LH2) yield complexes of the type UL2.XH2O(where X is OOR β) with U(IV). However, with o-carboxyphenylarsonic acid (L'H2) the complex (UOH)2L3.2H2O has been isolated. On the basis of their high melting points, insolubility in most of the organic solvents and reflectance spectra and temperature dependent magnetic susceptibilities, these complexes have been assigned eight coordinated polymeric structures.
