Description
Background: Control rod drop performance is essential for safety analysis of nuclear power plant. Purpose: To validate the design of control rod drive line (CRDL), a high-speed digital camera is used to record the control rod drop course in AP1000 CRDL drop performance experiment. Methods: The recorded video images are analyzed by a digital image processing method which includes digital image correlation and sub-pixel algorithm. Results: Based on such approach, the relationships of control rod's position, velocity and acceleration with time are obtained. Conclusion: This approach has high accuracy theoretically and will be useful for validating and improving the design of CRDL. (authors)
