Description
After irradiation targets of natural uranium or tellurium dioxide were dissolved in hydrochloric acid and the extraction of 131I into dibenzo-18-crown-6 (DBC) in 1,2-dichloroethane was carried out. The concentration of the crown ether was 0.02 M. The effects of HCl concentration, reducing agent and carrier were studied. The extraction efficiencies were 90 and 98% for 131I extracted from irradiated TeO2 and U3O8 respectively. The stripping of 131I into sodium hydroxide solutions was performed at a variety of different concentrations; best results were obtained using 1-1.5 M solutions. (author)
