Dominant lethality in embryos from parents treated with chemotherapeutic drugs
- 1. Univ. of California, San Francisco (USA)
Description
In order to examine the mutagenic hazards due to multidry chemotherapy and to investigate possible alternatives, male mice were treated with clinically relevant doses of drugs and their reproductive fitness assayed in an in vitro dominant lethal assay. Results show that a variety of drugs used in cancer therapy as well as two known mutagens, radiation and methylmethanesulfonate, gave positive results in an analysis of the long-term mutagenic hazards in mammalian germ cells
