Interaction of lithium niobate and tantalate with bromine trifluoride
Description
By the methods of chemical, IR spectroscopic, X-ray phase and gravimetric analyses the reaction between liquid BrF3 and powdered and monocrystal samples of LiNbO3 and LiTaO3 has been investigated. It is shown that LiTaO3 is transformed into LiTaF6, and LiNbO3 - first into LiNbOF4 and then into LiNbF6. The rate of monocrystal plates dissolution at room temperature and at BrF3 boiling point is measured
