VMOMS - A computer code for finding moment solutions to the Grad-Shafranov equation
- 1. Oak Ridge National Lab., TN (USA)
Description
This code finds approximate solutions to the Grad-Shafranov equation describing scalar pressure-balance equilibria for axisymmetric tokamak plasmas. A Fourier series expansion of the flux surface coordinates (R, Z) is made in terms of two new coordinate (rho, theta), and the resulting equation is convenieF reduced to a system of ordinary differential equations (ODE's) using a variational principle. The solution of these simple equations with pressure and current as driving functions yields, in principle, a complete description of the equilibrium. (orig.)
