γγ scattering at high energy
- 1. Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics, University of Cambridge, England
Description
It is shown how fixed poles enable the Pomeron to couple in γγ scattering, and to produce the expected asymptotic factorization sigma/sub γγ/ asymptotically = sigma/sub γp/2/sigma/sub pp/. Five of the eight independent invariant amplitudes contain a double fixed pole; but, when these amplitudes are combined to form the t-channel helicity amplitudes, the double poles cancel, leaving single fixed poles at j = 1, which are what is needed to cancel nonsense factors
