Study on longitudinal correlations between pions in fragmentation regions of primary hadrons in K-p interactions at 32 GeV/c

Description

Longitudinal correlations between pions inclusively produced in the target and beam fragmentations are studied in inclusive K- p experiment at 32 GeV/c. The analysis of the differential distributions of chaAged pions, produced in the proton fragmentation region under other charged pion trigger reveals an absence of x2-scaling. Two- and three pions longitudinal center-of-mass distributions are also studied and their behaviour showed a significant deviation from the simple quark recombination predictions. Significant long-range correlations, found between momenta of π- mesons from the proton fragmentation and of π+ mesons from the K- fragmentation, can be an indication of the existence of the quark exchange or quark annihilations in the initial K- p collisions
