Plasma drift in the polar ionosphere, Ny Aalesund, 6-10 September 1974

  • 1. Tromsoe Univ. (Norway)

Description

Horizontal plasma drift in the polar ionosphere measured at Ny Aalesund, Spitsbergen, shows a north and westward flow velocity in the noon sector and a south component around midnight. Typical velocities are 200-500 m/s corresponding to electric fields from 10 to 30 mV/m. The results are in good agreement with other drift and electric field measurements in the polar cap. (Auth.)
