Electrochemical reextraction of platinum metals

Description
Recovery of Pd2+, Pt4+ and Ru4+ from the quaternary onium base salt (trialkylbenzylammonium and tetraphenylphosphosnium chlorides) extracts has been studied by the method of electrochemical reextraction using the liqiud membranes. The possibility of methods use for the direct transfer of platinum metals (yields up to 100 %) to the dilute solutions of mineral acids has been demonstrated. The rise of the direct current density and current passage time as well as the decrease of the quaternary onium base salt concentration at the extraction stage essentially increases the extraction degree of platinum metals. The nature of the reextracting agent (mineral acid) and its concentration has no influence on the electrochemical processes taking place in the studied system
