Nuclear energy and its future contribution to the energy supply

Description
It is shown that for a sensible energy policy in the FRG, not only the conservation of energy by efficient utilization but also an increased use of nuclear energy is necessary. Nuclear energy will not only be a substitute for the primary energy carriers mineral oil and natural gas but its process heat will also be used for coal gasification and district heating. A new energy policy and direct support measures in the further development of reactor engineering, of the technologies of nuclear process heat utilization and transport, and of the dosing of the fuel cycle are deemed necessary. Abstract (German)
Es wird dargelegt, dass eine sinnvolle Energiepolitik in der BRD neben der Energieersparnis durch rationellen Einsatz der Energie die zunehmende Verwendung der Kernenergie zum Ziele haben muss. Die Kernenergie wird dabei nicht nur die Primaerenergietraeger Erdoel und Erdgas substituieren, sondern auch als Prozesswaerme bei der Kohleveredelung und als Fernwaerme einzusetzen sein. Um dieses Ziel zu erreichen, werden energiepolitische und direkte Foerdermassnahmen bei der Weiterentwicklung der Reaktortechnik, der Technologien zur Nutzung der nuklearen Prozesswaerme sowie deren Ferntransport und der Schliessung des Brennstoff-Kreislaufes als notwendig erachtet.
