Dimuon events at the CERN panti-p Collider

Creators

  • 1. CERN, Geneva (Switzerland)

Description

The observation of muon pairs below the Z0 mass is reported in data from the 1983 and 1984 CERN panti-p Collider runs. Two hundred and twelve events are observed for an integrated luminosity of 362 nb-1, requiring p transverse momentum > 3 GeV/c for each muon and msub(μμ)> 6 GeV/c2. The events are interpreted in terms of the Drell-Yan mechanism, UPSILON → μ+μ- decays and heavy-flavour processes. 15 refs
