Description
Electrochemical characteristics and a possibility of electrochemical polishing (ECP) of amorphous alloys (AA) strip in H3PO4 and H3PO4+HF solutions have been studied. Boron-containing AA (composition, at.%): Co60Fe5Ni10Si10B15 (1) and Fe40Ni38Mo4B18 (2) are produced at high rates (>= 105 deg/s) of the melt cooling in a fast-rotating cylinder. It is shown that the AA investigated in phosphorix acid electrolytes possess different electrochemical properties. A higher ability to passivation of the alloy with Mo does not impede its rapid dissolution at a high anode polarization. Different surface characteristics of tarnished and polished sides of the strip of AA do not exclude a possibility of two-side electrochemical treatment. However, production of a quality surface by it requires further improvement in AA production technology, so as to improve initial microrelief of the strip surface
