Hunting the H
Description
A bound, strangeness -2 dibaryon, called the H, has been predicted by the bag model confinement theories. This paper reviews several attempts to find evidence supporting the existence of the H as well as indirect experimental data. Although no compelling evidence for the H exists, the data have limited sensitivity and the existence of the H cannot be ruled out. A proposed experiment designed to search for the H is also reviewed and calculations indicate this experiment will be a sensitive test of the dibaryon theories. (orig.)
