Description

The first picosecond synchrotron radiation pulse radiolysis experiments using one of the Accumulating Ring beam lines of the TRISTAN Accelerators of National Laboratory for High Energy Physics (KEK) is now starting. The present paper describes mainly the scintillation mechanisms including geminate ion recombination, energy transfer, and Cerenkov light excitation processes of X-ray irradiated liquid and plastic scintillators. Time profiles of liquid and plastic scintillation induced by X-ray pulses are also discussed
