Description

Photoluminescence and thermoluminescence of strontium yttrium borate doped with rare earths were studied. The characteristic excitation and emission peaks of Eu3+ and Tb3+ were observed. However, in presence of Tb3+, Eu3+ luminescence intensities was quenched and vice versa. Undoped strontium yttrium borate exhibited strong thermoluminescence at 150 deg C. Presence of RE dopants and Mn/Cu significantly quenched the thermoluminescence. The dose response of the undoped matrix was linear over two orders of magnitude with respect to gamma irradiation.
