Layered lattice-matched superconducting device and method of making
Description
This patent describes a superconducting device. It comprises: a substrate having a crystal structure with a substrate crystalline direction aligned in a predetermined direction with respect to a surface of the substrate; a first layer of a first composition and having a perovskite crystal structure with a first crystalline direction deposited vertically upon the surface of the substrate, the first crystalline direction of the first layer being aligned with the substrate crystalline direction; a second layer of a second composition and having a crystal structure with the first crystalline direction deposited vertically upon the second layer, the first crystalline direction of the second layer being aligned with the first crystalline direction of the first layer; a third layer of a third composition and having a perovskite crystal structure with the first crystalline direction deposited vertically upon on the second layer, the first crystalline direction of the third layer being aligned with the first crystalline direction of the first layer; and electrical contacts electrically connected to at least one of the first and third layers to form an electrical path passing through portions of the first and second compositions and therebetween across a horizontally extending interface between the first and second layers
