Energy efficiency in figures. Developments and trends in Germany 2021

In addition to the expansion of renewable energies, the efficient use of energy is crucial for the energy transition to succeed and greenhouse gas neutrality to be achieved in 2045. The brochure "Energy Efficiency in Figures" therefore provides a fact-based overview of the progress made in implementing energy efficiency policy in Germany. It shows the most important indicators to illustrate the developments in energy consumption, the effects of energy efficiency measures and the change in other framework factors. This brochure is based on the data of the reporting year 2019. If consistent data for the 2020 reporting year were already available at the time this report was completed, they are presented accordingly. Comprehensive data on developments due to the Corona pandemic in 2020 were not available at the time of preparation and are only partially shown in this brochure.
