Sulphur isotope analyses of trace sulphide and sulphate in various materials using Kiba reagent

Description

Kiba reagent (Sn2+ in H3PO4) has been used to extract sulphur as H2S from various organic and inorganic materials since 1955. This technique is used for sulphur isotope analysis of total sulphur in rock samples in many laboratories. More recently, trace sulphide and sulphate have been separately extracted from silicate and carbonate minerals for isotope analyses. The authors have extended the technique to determine the sulphur isotope composition of trace sulphate and sulphide in meteorites, marine carbonates, kidney and bladder stones, and teeth.
