Evaluation of creep damage for P92 steels using ultrasound
- 1. Dept. of Mechanical Engineering, Sungkyunkwan University, Suwon (Korea, Republic of)
Description
High temperature and pressure components of power plants can be degraded as increasing their operation time. Especially, creep damage(precipitation between grain boundaries, Laves Phase and etc.) is one of major cause of early breakage of these components. Thus, evaluation of creep damage nondestructively is strongly needed to insure integrity of the power plants. Ultrasonic testing is used for not only flaw detection but also evaluation of the material characteristics. Especially it is possible to detect variation of micro structures and very small flaws using high frequency ultrasonic testing method. So, in this study, we performed evaluation of creep damaged P92 steels by measuring sound velocities and attenuations using ultrasonic testing.
