Description

Superconducting Magnetic Energy Storage (SMES) promises to be an attractive technology for both defense and electric utility use. A program to advance the technology is currently underway. Two teams are competing during the Phase I of a two-phase program. This paper describes the current program, and the Bechtel Team's approach to SMES development within the program
