Description
Measurements on M vs H up to 50 T in pulsed fields are reported for the spin fluctuation compounds UPt3 (where measurements up to 35 T already exist), U1-xYxAl2 and Pr0.9U0.1In3. The known metamagnetic transition at 20 T in UPt3 is observed; no further transition is observed in Upt3 up to 50 T. Although the compounds U0.9Y0.1Al2, U0.7Y0.3Al2 and Pr0.9U0.1In3 also show T3 ln T spin fluctuation terms in their specific heat with specific heat γ values spanning the range 190-670 mJ per mole U-K2, (where Upt3 has γ=450 mJ per mole-K2), no metamagnetic transitions up to 50 T are observed in these systems. Possible scaling relations between Bmetamag and various parameters are discussed. (orig.)
