Nuclear instruments in mining
Description
In mining under heavy conditions it is advantageous to use nuclear instruments. The quantity of a material moving on an elastic band or the density of a fluid flowing in a tube can be measured by a universal industrial ratemeter detecting γ-ray intensity continuously. The average atomic number of carbon samples can be determined from β-reflection measurements by a universal pulse scaler, and conclusions including the ash content can be drawn. (V.N.)
