A new result on direct Cp violation from the NA48 experiment

Description
The NA48 experiment is conceived to measure with great accuracy the parameter Re(ε'/ε), which quantifies the amount of direct CP violation in the K0 K-bar0 system. The first result, based on the data acquired during the 1997 run, has been published last year. A preliminary analysis of the 1998 data, corresponding to a statistical sample about three times larger than the 1997 one, is presented, leading to the result Re(ε'/ε) = (12.2 ± 4.9) x 10-4. (author)
