New low-level radioactive waste disposal/storage facilities at the Savannah River Plant: Performance assessments

Description

The Savannah River Plant will soon begin construction of a new facility for the disposal and storage of low-level radioactive waste. Initial planning for the facility included performance assessments of possible disposal technologies. The determination of input parameters and the interpretation of the results provided valuable insight into the process of performance prediction. Factors such as leach mechanisms and solubility controls of migrating species required particularly careful evaluation. 12 refs., 3 tabs
