Description
In this paper the authors show that the superconducting materials can be formed sucessfully also after having reached, in oxygen atmosphere, temperatures higher than the peritectic decomposition temperature of YBa2Cu3O7-y. Two different preparation methods are investigated:arc melting of the YBa2Cu3O7-y prereacted powders at ∼1900 degrees C and partial melting at T = 1080 degrees C, just 50 degrees C above the peritectic decomposition temperature of YBa2Cu3O7-y. The results of the metallographic and structural characterization and of the electric and magnetic measurements are reported. They are compared with the corresponding properties of a traditional sintered sample
