French program for greenhouse effect prevention

Description

The government program to slowdown the greenhouse effect follows 3 axis: a policy of favoring the reduction of energy consumption, a taxation of the emission of greenhouse gases (with the setting of rights to polluting which can be bought and sold by firms) and actions in the agriculture sector: reduction of methane emission in intensive animal husbandry and afforestation of 20000 hectares surface each year till 2006. Transport means such as individual cars and trucks are spared by this program while they are the first polluters. (A.C.)
