Computed tomography of the sella turcica content in coronal and axial plane

Description
Computed tomography of the pituitary fossa in the axial and coronal plane have been performed in 40 patients. The use of both planes has improved diagnostic accuracy through a more exact spatial demonstration. The method has also been reliable in the detection of pituitary microadenomas. The use of both planes has a limited diagnostic accuracy due artefacts in coronal plane. (orig.)
Abstract (German)
Bei 40 Patienten wurde die Sellaregion computertomographisch mit Frontal- und Transversalschichten untersucht. Die Anwendung der beiden Schichtebenen hat die Diagnostik der pathologischen Prozesse durch genauere raeumliche Darstellung verbessert. Diese Untersuchungsart hat sich auch zuverlaessig in der Diagnostik der Hypophysenmikroadenome erwiesen. Allerdings ist die diagnostische Anwendung der beiden Schichtebenen wegen in Frontalprojektion aufgetretener Artefakte begrenzt. (orig.)Additional details
